Forgotten Wrecks and Associated Sites on Land

While it is called the Forgotten Wrecks project, sites on land along the south coast, with a particular significance to the war at sea, are also being investigated.

These sites include intertidal wrecks, port installations such as docks, hards, wharves and other landing places, seaplane and airship bases, training grounds, barracks, depots, camps, coastal defences and installations – all with a maritime connection.

Through the Forgotten Wrecks project we will be undertaking surveys and site assessments. If you would like to get involved with this work, please contact us

This map shows the location of First World War era wrecks within the project area. As the project progresses, more information will be added to this map. These sites, vessels and loss dates are approximate and may change as the project progresses. This map should not be used for navigation. Check out our History Pin map for photos and video of some of these sites.
