In December 1917, four months before SSZ15 was lost off Exmouth, Wilfred E. Jones had a terrifying experience in the airship. His account of the incident is in the extensive archives of the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton.

Wilfred Jones's account is one of many in Voices in Flight: The Royal Naval Air Services During the Great War and is reproduced here, with the kind permission of its author Malcolm Smith.
